National Head Coach, Datuk K. Rajagopal, has insisted that Nazmi Faiz has to fight for his place in the team if he wants to represent Malaysia
PKNS FC midfielder, Mohd Nazmi Faiz, who has been called to the national team to replace the injured Badhir Radzi, will still have to prove himself despite having the experience of playing in Europe, said Rajagopal.
The national team Head Coach has insisted that even though the former Young Tigers player used to play in a professional league outside the country, he still has to compete with other players for a spot in the national squad.
"We have to understand, playing in the European league and representing the country in the international friendly are two different things.
"This is the chance for him to prove his ability despite his being on the waiting list,” Rajagopal told reporters earlier.
Rajagopal also added that he will only bring 26 fit players to Australia and will leave behind those who are injured.
Other than Badhri, Kedah’s striker Khyril Muhymeen, Kelantan’s Shakir Shaari and Selangor’s Bunyamin Umar have all been ruled out due to injury.Nazmi, 18, caused a shock to the nation when he made the decision to sign for PKNS FC and return to Malaysia after spending time with in Portugal.
