The LionsXII will host the first team that defeated them this season, PKNS FC. This game comes after the LionsXII's disappointing draw in Pahang, in which they conceded the equaliser in the dying minutes of the game. That game could have scarred the LionsXII psychologically but if V. Sundramoothy can turn those lost points into a source of motivation. A win here at their fortress, Jalan Besar Stadium, would see LionsXII extend their lead to four points at the top of the table.
PKNS are on a high after they thrashed Felda United in a 5-0 rout in their previous match. The Selangor-based team have the third-best scoring record in the Malaysian Super League. A third of their goals have come courtesy of Patrick Ronaldinho Wleh, and the Liberian even scored a hat-trick against a five-man Felda defence previously.
Although the LionsXII's last game was 10 days ago, most of the team had a run-out against Copa del Rey champions Atletico Madrid in midweek. Safuwan Baharudin and Baihakki Khaizan were rock-solid in defence and their confidence level should be sky high now. Izwan Mahbud is also a wall in between the goalposts and Malaysian clubs have found it hard to put a goal past him, with the side having conceded only 10 goals so far.
PKNS have been alternating between victories and defeats in their last five games, a signal of their infamous inconsistency. Nazmi Faiz, who was signed from Portugese side SC Beira Mar, has linked up well with his teammates since his return to Malaysia.
The LionsXII will have their work cut out for them if they want to maintain their position at the top of the tablem and they will need to watch Patrick Ronaldinho, who will no doubt be a threat to their goal.
