The Selangor coach vowed to gun for a victory no matter what happens in the other group game, which could decide their qualification fate, and also managed a dig at the LionsXII

Selangor might still be in the running for qualification to the second round of the AFC Cup, but coach Irfan Bakti was more keen to take a dig at Malaysian Super League rivals LionsXII instead of focusing on his opponent tomorrow night, Tampines Rovers, during the pre-match conference at Albert Court Village Hotel on Monday afternoon.
"As a coach, I don’t like to play against teams who are always defending, but maybe that is their tactics; but I like to attack and after the draw against LionsXII, my players have forgotten about it and we are fully concentrated for this game and hope they will enjoy the match and entertain the crowd," he claimed.
"I want to have fun but we must be serious. It will definitely be an open game, not like the LionsXII when they play - they always put ten players behind the ball."
Selangor is currently third in Group H with five points and will progress to the Round of 16 if they secure maximum points against the Stags, and second-placed Sai Gon Xuan Thanh - currently on eight points - lose to East Bengal.
But Irfan said that he will not be bothered by the result of the other game, as he is fully concentrating on his own team.
"We are going to play for pride and we got to win this match, no matter what happens between Sai Gon and East Bengal," he declared.
The match between Tampines and Selangor will be played on Tuesday at the Jalan Besar Stadium with kick-off scheduled for 7pm.
