Lionel Messi and Co. are set to play against Malaysia XI on August 10, even though it will be the third day of Hari Raya AidilfitriSpanish giants Barcelona will come to Bukit Jalil on August 10 to play against Malaysia XI selection.
Despite the date falling on the third day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Barcelona chief executive officer Antoni Rossich said the date was the most suitable for the Catalan club to hold its pre-season tour matches, as most of the club's players are expected to be called up for international duty with their respective countries right after that.
Speaking to the reporters, Antoni said: "During the month of August, major European clubs, including Barcelona, will be busy searching for new players to strengthen their team."
Barcelona had earlier announced that they will play three exhibition matches during their pre-season Asian Tour, which also includes a match in Shanghai, China on Aug 3 and another in Bangkok, Thailand.
Effendi Jagan Abdullah, the match promoter from BSC Soccer, was confident that local football fans will go for the game to watch the exciting match.
"We are quite optimistic of filling the stadium although the date will clash with the festive season," he added.
Ticket sales for the match are on sale priced RM668 for VIP seating, while normal seating price is from RM98 to RM388.
Deputy president of FAM, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, believes that Malaysian players must take this opportunity as this is the first time the Spanish club will be coming to Malaysia.
