Malaysia were shocked when Yemen scored in the first half through Aiman Al Hagri, but goals from Azamuddin Akil and Khyril Muhymeen gave Malaysia a huge boost in their mission to qualify for the Asia Cup.
Rajagopal gave all the credit to his players and said, "It is not easy to comeback after the 4-1 defeat against Saudi Arabia, especially mentally. Most teams would have low morale, but credit to them, they did really well against a strong team."
"Yemen are a very good team. We created more chances than Yemen, it was a very good performance from the team," he added.
Rajagopal also praised his players, especially those in midfield, for the way they dominated the game, "Wan Zack gave us more options, more depth to select from. Amri and Azzamudin also played really well and they showed great determination and Safiq Rahim also carried out his duties as captain very well."
"They all played well but as a team, together they have shown a great performance," said Rajagopal in the press conference after the game.
However, Rajagopal insisted that the team needs to be more consistent and that he wants them to continue playing the way they played last night.
"I have faith in my players. We need support from everyone and if we keep playing like this, players will keep improving and know their responsibilty," added the victorious coach.
