thumbnail Hello,

PKNS and LionsXII conclude the round as the week’s biggest scorers while Felda United and Negeri Sembilan rue their chances

Round seven of the 2013 Malaysian Super League (MSL) began with a pulsating encounter between arch-rivals Selangor and Kelantan. Goals from imports Francis Forkey Doe and Ramez Dayoub sealed the deal for the Red Giants. With the win, Irfan Bakti’s men sit at the top of the MSL with 13 points.

In the match between Johor Darul Takzim and T-Team, Fandi Ahmad’s forces fought hard to maintain their six-game unbeaten run in all competitions. Star striker Dan Guiza scored the only goal for the hosts in the 32nd minute to secure the three points for the Southern Tigers. The Titans had a flurry of chances in the second half but couldn’t outdo the dominant home side.

At the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium, Terengganu welcomed Perak after having a poor start to their 2013 campaign - two draws and three losses. The Seladangs weren’t able to stop Ashaari who opened the scoring in the 14th minute after dribbling pass two defenders. Effa Owona scored the second with a cracker from 30 yards out. Minutes before the end, the Turtles' Ismail Faruqi and Perak's Mohd Nazmi were sent off after a squabble.

The LionsXII totally outplayed Pahang at the Jalan Besar Stadium beating them 3-0. Goals from Faris Ramli, Safuwan Bahrudin and Fazrul Nawaz dealt the Tok Gajah their second loss in the MSL. Pahang fought hard with chances from Faizol Hussin, Amirul Hadi and R. Gopinathan but were not good enough to beat LionsXII goalkeeper Izwan Mahmud who was on top of his game. V. Sundramoorthy’s boys have 12 points and are just one point behind the league leaders Selangor.

In the other high-scoring game of the week, PKNS downed Felda United 3-1 at the Petaling Jaya Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Mohamad Ghaddar canceled out Helmi Remelli’s 27th-minute strike but saw his team lose out when Nizam Abu Bakar picked up a second yellow card. Patrick Wleh Ronaldinho and Nazrin Syamsul ended the Settlers’ misery with a goal each - adding more pressure on coach K. Devan.

Negeri Sembilan are still hunting for their first win of the season after a 1-1 draw against ATM at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium. It looked good for the Deers when Firdaus put them ahead in the 34th minute but with just one minute of regulation time left, Nor Fazly’s equaliser ruined the party for Divaldo Alves’ men who are now deep in the relegation zone at 12th place.
