Malaysia drops a spot in the latest FIFA rankings

A defeat to Qatar in the opener of their 2015 Asia Cup qualifiers has dragged Malaysia down one spot, to 159th, in the FIFA rankings
Based on their current position, Malaysia is lower than countries who lack a proper footballing infrastructure such as Palestine (153rd), Hong Kong (156th), Bermuda (157th) and Maldives - with whom Malaysia share the same spot.

According to the FIFA Rankings, Malaysia stayed at 26th among 46 countries in Asia, with Japan leading the way for the continent followed by South Korea and Australia.

However, among Asean countries, Harimau Malaya are 5th behind Vietnam (134th overall), Thailand (141st), Phillipines (147th), and Singapore (158th).

Spain is still the top ranked team in the world, with Germany and Argentina in second and third respectively.
