The young midfielder has been released for six months, to allow him to play in Malaysia and prepare ahead of the upcoming SEA Games at the end of this yearMalaysian young midfielder Nazmi Faiz has been released by SC Beira-Mar for sixth months, paving the way for him to play in Malaysia and prepare with the national U-23 team for the South East Asian Games at the end of this year.
According to reports by FOXSports.my, Beira-Mar have confirmed the decision and also hinted that they are looking to bring in several other new Malaysian names into their ranks, although they declined to give out specific names.
The teenage prodigy signed with the Portuguese side last August, after impressing during trials with them. He has been playing for their U-19 side all this while, making 17 appearances so far and netting one goal. Per contra, it now seems that Beira-Mar have released him temporarily and while they do claim that he will return to feature with them after the extended break, it remains to be seen whether that would materialize.
However, this particular decision comes as a surprise considering that he was initially supposed to join Harimau Muda's training camp in Europe later this year.
Rumours are now suggesting that Nazmi will join up with PKNS FC's squad for the Malaysian Super League, although it appears unlikely since the transfer window only opens up in April.
However, Ong Kim Swee has declined to comment on the matter and this will continue to intrigue many with the massive irony behind Beira-Mar's decision in giving him and extended leave. Nazmi Faiz is reportedly back in Malaysia as well.
