thumbnail Hello,

The Pahang forward believes that he is more than capable of stepping into the shoes of Safee Sali, who missed out on the national team because of injury

The Malayan Tigers have been severely hit by injury crisis recently but as they prepare to take on Iraq in a friendly match before moving on to face Qatar for the 2015 Asian Cup qualifying match, one man is full on confidence. Pahang's Fauzi Roslan is adamant that he will be able to contribute immensely and help Malaysia earn a favourable result against their superior Middle East counterpart.

"I am ready to take on the challenge of playing for the national team," he told Utusan Malaysia

"Regardless of whever the coach decides to play me, I am definitely going to give my best and perform for Malaysia."

Fauzi has been in red hot form this season, scoring seven goals in Pahang's six matches so far. His performances definitely did not miss the eye of Datuk K. Rajagopal, but the man himself was surprised with the national team call-up.

"I never thought that the coach will call me up for these Asian Cup qualifiers. It took me by surprise. But I've always wanted to represent the country and this is my best shot at doing so.

"However, there is still a lot for me to learn as the style of play and tactics employed by Datuk K. Rajagopal will differ with Pahang's one. But I'm confident of adapting and will do my best to help Malaysia."
