Selangor 3-2 Pahang: Red Giants end Pahang's perfect record

The Red Giants draw level on points with Pahang at the summit of the league as Ramzul's late winner saw the home side edge the Elephants in a pulsating encounter
Selangor got off to a dream start by opening the scoring in the second minute through Amri Yahya, who steered home Solihin’s low cross to put the home side 1-0 up.

Selangor continued to pile on the pressure on Pahang and custodian Nasril twice came to their rescue, producing excellent saves to deny Forkey Doe from close range. But he could do nothing to stop Selangor from doubling their lead as Amri Yahya converted from close range to cap a fine flowing move involving Forkey Doe and Raimi in the 20th minute.

The Red Giants’ two goal cushion however evaporated within three minutes as Fauzi Roslan headed home Surendran’s cross for his fourth goal of the season to bring Pahang back into the tie.

It was end to end stuff by now as the burly Nasril once again produced heroics in the Pahang goal to deny Raimi following an excellent pass from Amri Yahya.

Selangor however were dealt a blow just before half-time as Pahang equalized through Razman Roslan, who converted from the spot after Surendran was fouled in the box.

The second half sprung to life in the opening minutes as Forkey Doe had a strong case for a penalty turned down, instead receiving a caution for supposedly diving. Former Selangor midfielder Amirulhadi then came close for the visitors with a 25-yard piledriver that flew narrowly wide.

There was one last sting in this pulsating encounter as Selangor substitute Ramzul, who had come on moments earlier produced a thumping header past Nasril to restore the Giants’ lead in the 80th minute.

Pahang tried to mount a late comeback but it was all too late as Selangor saw out the remaining minutes to notch a priceless win and stamp their intent as genuine league contenders this season.
