thumbnail Hello,

The national head coach has confirmed that he is willing to call-up players who perform in the MSL to play for Harimau Malaya

National coach Datuk K.Rajagopal announced yerterday that the door is still wide open for all the players playing in the Malaysian Super League (MSL) to represent the country in the future.

The former international, who was heavily criticised for failing to lead the team to their second consecutive AFF Suzuki Cup title last month, said that the players who do well in the MSL would be given their chance to impress at international level.

“Everyone has a chance. I will monitor the performing players in the league this year,” he told Sinar Harian.

“Before this people were questioning why certain players were not picked but we must understand that domestic and international football is different in quality.”

“There were players who admitted themselves that they would not be able to raise their game to a higher level.”

This year, Rajagopal’s biggest assignment would be to prepare the team for the 2015 Asian Cup qualifiers which start early next month.

The Malayan Tigers will get their campaign underway against Qatar in Doha on February 6, and have arranged a friendly game against 2007 Asian champions Iraq to help them get ready for the game.

The friendly will be played in Dubai on the 1st of February, five days before their date against Qatar.
