thumbnail Hello,

Negeri Sembilan believe that they have enough quality within their squad to mount a realistic challenge for at least one trophy

Negeri Sembilan might have lost the likes of S. Kunanlan and Farizal Marlias but they are shining with optimism for the new season. The Deers have a new look to the  team for 2013, with Portuguese head coach Divaldo Da Silva given the mandate the lead the team.

Argentinian player Emanuel Matias De Porras and Camerron defender William Paul Modibo have been drafted in to strengthen the squad and Negeri Sembilan FA President Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan reiterated his faith in seeing them win at least one trophy.

"Based on the list of players that we have, as well as the new coaching system that we have employed, we can certainly match any of the teams in the league," he told Kosmo.

"This year, we are confident of at least bringing back one trophy, or maybe even sweep the treble. Because in football, you just never know.

Negeri Sembilan will be placing their trust on youth talent for 2013 and Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan insisted that they don't believe in buying players, but rather producing quality young players.

""We did not spend big to buy star players because that is not the way we do business. We have our own principle, which is to produce quality young talents.

"Negeri Sembilan this year will be made up of talented young players, but we also have enough experience to lead these guys."

Last season's head coach Azraai Khor was a prominent name among the fans, leading the team to a Malaysia Cup triumph in 2011. However, his departure saw the Deers appoint Portuguese coach Divaldo Alves. Thus far, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan has nothing but praises for the man, who has previously coached in the Indonesian league.

"We have seen how Divaldo trains the team and I'm very attracted to this new system. In the recent friendly matches, I have seen a positive improvement from their style of play. Hopefully, we will be a force to be reckoned with this year."
