Perak beat Kedah 2-0 in extra time to win the competition for the first time in 22 years
Perak have won the 2012 King's Gold Cup after beating Kedah 2-0 at the Perak Stadium.
Hamizul Izaidi and substitute Khairul Asraff clinched it for Perak when they both scored in the extra time of the game. The victory was the first one for Perak since they last won the trophy 22 years ago.
The game started with both teams defending well. Perak almost scored in the 28th minute when Haizal Faquan Sadaruddin's free kick just went inches wide from the goal. They had another chance in the 33th minute but Hamizul Izaidi's shot was off target.
Kedah too had their fair share of chances and almost went ahead when they struck the bar before the first half ended.
Both sides continued to attack in the second half, and Kedah once again hit the bar in the 59th minute.
The match eventually had to be decided in extra-time after it finished without a goal at the end of 90 minutes.
In extra time, Perak finally managed to break the deadlock just before the second half of the extra time ended.
Minutes before the final whistle they scored again to seal their victory.
