The Frenchman has only netted twice, converting a penalty against Perlis last week, before netting against amateur side ODA FC in midweek. He however, failed to score in their 4-0 win against Songkla United last Friday.
Fans have already voiced their concerns over this particular signing, who barely played any football this year after a contract dispute with his former side in Thailand. Now, Azraai Khor has told him to improve and step up to a true foreign hitman level.
“Rouani needs to step up his game and understand what we expect from a foreign striker," Azraai told The Star.
“He’s not outstanding with his contribution to the team and seems to be rough around the edges. I’ve spoken to him and he understands our concerns.
“I think he needs more play time to improve. Since we’re still in pre-season, I believe there’s enough time for him to improve.”
However, the former Kedah head coach has been impressed with their other foreign player in the form of Rafael Novais. The tall Brazillian previously played for Bangkok Glass FC in the Thai league, and has adapted with the Seladangs seamlessly.
“Rafael is a team player and I’m happy with his performance. He has adapted well to the team,” said Azraai.
Perak are scheduled to kick off their Malaysian Super League campaign against T-Team on the 8th of January but Azraai is already keeping an eye on the FA Cup tie against moneybags Darul Takzim FC on the 25th of January.
“It’s vital for us to collect maximum points in the early stages of the season as most teams would have not gelled by then and we need to capitalise on it.
“We also need to get ready for the FA Cup tie against Johor Darul Takzim," he added.
