PKNS FC coach Abdul Rahman Ibrahim is convinced he has the players to be a surprise package in this season’s FA Cup, which starts next month.
Despite having to face Malaysian Super League (MSL) runners-up LionsXII in the first round of the competition, he is confident that his boys would be up to the challenge of eliminating one of the tournament favourites.
The former Selangor tactician acknowledged that LionsXII is a strong team, but concluded that it is not an excuse for the Red Ants to give up early and stop from trying to go for a win.
“To make sure we go through to the next round, I will think of the best strategy and tactics to stop them,” said Abdul Rahman to Sinar Harian.
Although PKNS have last season’s Malaysian Premier League (MPL) top scorer Patrick Ronaldinho Wleh in their ranks, the 66-year-old believes both teams are good enough of winning the tie.
He added that it is a matter of staying focused and is hopeful that the fans will be the 12th player - to spur the team on to the next round.
