thumbnail Hello,

Perak FA have confirmed the signing of defender Rafael Novais and forward Karim Rouani as their two foreign players for the upcoming season of Malaysian football

The Seladangs have been on a revamp mission since their dismal Malaysia Cup outing earlier this year. But despite making early initiatives to build up the squad for next year, they were made to rush to secure the signature of two foreign players, with the registration period ending on the 6th of December.

With rumours linking them to names such as Frederic Mendy and John Carew, Perak secured their first foreign signing by snapping up former Bangkok Glass defender Rafael Novais.

The tall defender previously featured for Palmeiras and Rio Branco in 2009 and 2010, before making the move to Asia with Thai side Buriram PEA.

But Perak fans were still hopeful of John Carew lining up for the Silver State, as negotiations continued. The deadline edged closer and with both parties failing to agree on terms, Perak FA moved quickly to snap up Karim Rouani.

The Moroccan-born French forward previously played for Budapest Honved in the Hungarian league before making the move to BEC Tero Sasana in the Thai League.

Nonetheless, his time there was cut short after a dispute with some club officials. Having been a a free agent for quite some time, plenty of Perak fans are skeptical about this move. But Azraai Khor believes otherwise.

"Karim certainly has qualities of a charismatic forward. I believe he will form a good understanding with the local players at our disposal as well," he told myMetro.

As for the man himself, Karim is certainly looking forward to feature in the Malaysian Super League, having heard a lot of positive things about it.

"I was only with BEC Tero Sasana for six months, but I am looking forward to play in the Malaysian Super League now.

"I hope I can play a lot of games for Perak and make a big contribution for the team."

Perak FA will be looking to improve on their fourth place finish in the Malaysian Super League last year.
