The Kelantan player was left with no choice but to pull out from the national squad following an injury that was picked up in the Malaysia Cup final
Defender S. Subramaniam will not be able to participate in next month’s AFF Suzuki Cup.
The Kelantan centre-back injured his knee in the Malaysia Cup final against ATM last week and the injury is now deemed serious enough to keep him out of the tournament co-hosted by Malaysia.
“I'm really disappointed that I will not be playing at the Suzuki Cup,” Subra told ESPNSTAR.com.
“At the moment I am waiting to go for a scan to see the extent of the damage, but we have made the decision that I will not play next month.”
“I have been working so hard all year and looking forward to playing at the Suzuki Cup, and this is a real setback in my career.”
Rizal Fahmi Abdul Rosid, Subra’s Kelantan team-mate, has been called-up by national coach Datuk K. Rajagopal to take his place in the country’s 35-man preliminary squad, which started training on Monday.
