Datuk K.Rajagopal names training squad for AFF Suzuki Cup but continues to ignore growing calls for the inclusion of Kelantan captain Badri Radzi
Despite creating all three of Kelantan’s goals in Saturday’s Malaysia Cup final, the Red Warriors’ skipper, Badri Radzi has been overlooked once more by national team coach Datuk K.Rajagopal.
Rajagopal released a list of the AFF Suzuki Cup preliminary squad through the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) today and named 28 players, with seven players put on standby.
Badri’s young team-mate Nik Shahrul Azim is a surprise inclusion while defender S. Subramaniam was also chosen although he got stretchered off due to an injury that looked serious, during the second half of the final. Pahang winger R. Gopinathan was again called-up after his brief debut against Hong Kong last week.
The players reported for training today and are scheduled to play three friendly matches against Vietnam, Thailand and Hong Kong before the squad is trimmed down to the final 23 names before the tournament.
