Prolific Marlon Alex James claims team success is more important to him than personal glory, brushes aside the notion that ATM is a one-man team
ATM’s star forward, Marlon Alex James is so desperate to win the Malaysia Cup that he does not mind the final score, so long as they win the game and lift the trophy.
“Winning 1-0 is enough for me. It doesn’t matter who gets the goal,” the Saint Vincent and Grenadines international told Harian Metro.
The 35-year-old former Kedah player also dismissed suggestions that B.Sathianathan’s men rely too much on him for goals and denied he is under extra pressure because of it.
“ATM do not depend on me alone. Hairuddin (Omar) and Zaquan (Adha Abdul Radzak) can score goals as well,” said Marlon, who leads the Malaysia Cup scoring chart with 11 goals.
Having won the trophy with Kedah before, Marlon insists that he is still as fired up as ever to win the competition in his first season with The Gladiators.
“I want to win it with ATM because this team has never won it so there’s a chance to create history here.”
Marlon’s ATM will take on Kelantan in the Malaysia Cup final tonight at the Shah Alam Stadium.
