This year’s Malaysia Cup final will take place at the Shah Alam Stadium, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) have announced.
The decision was made by the Local Competitions Committee after a visit to the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil showed that the pitch was in poor condition.
“We wanted the final to be held here (Bukit Jalil) because of its capacity. We opted for the Shah Alam Stadium as it is the second largest stadium in the country and we want as many fans as possible to turn up,” said Datuk Hamidin Amin, the committee’s chairman.
“Seventy per cent of the grass at the Bukit Jalil Stadium had just been planted and will not be ready for the final. We have been told that the field will be ready for the AFF Cup,” he added.
Hamidin also hinted that the ticket price for the final is likely to be RM50, same as last year.
“At the moment there’s no decision yet but I think it won’t change,” Hamidin confirmed.
The final will be played on October 20.
