Kelantan will have a mountain to climb as they trail Al-Arbil SC by a four goal margin after the first leg of the quarter final of the AFC Cup held in Franso Hariri Stadium on Tuesday. Althought they managed to hold the Iraqi Champions at 1-1 in the first period, The Red Warriors finally succumbed in the second half conceding four goals.
“Travelling for more than 30 hours to get to Arbil, and missing several players also affected us,” he added.
Kelantan, the only Malaysian team competing in the second most prestigious cup in Asia, played without five of their key players who were absent due to several reasons: S.Subramaniam, Obinna Nwaneri, Indraputra Mahyuddin. Norsyahrul Idlan Talaha and Indraputra Mahyuddin.
“We will have several players that can play in the second leg. Hopefully, we can get a better result.
“Althought they are favourites, nothing is impossible in football. We will try our best to win the second leg against Al Arbil in Kota Bharu.”
The second leg of the AFC Cup is scheduled to be held in Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium, Kota Bharu, on September 25th.
