Kelantan are set to take on SC Arbil of Iraq in the quarter-finals of the AFC Cup without the services of their three import players
Kelantan will not be able to field their two new foreign players in the AFC Cup quarter-final match against Iraq’s SC Arbil after failing to get the International Transfer Certificate (ITC) for them.
Guinean Keita Mandjou and Croatian Mijo Dadic will now join the suspended Obinna Nwaneri in missing the crucial match.
Kelantan FA (KAFA) president, Tan Sri Annuar Musa, who confirmed the matter, said it happened because the rules of the FA of Malaysia (FAM) on player transfers were not in line with the conditions of AFC (Asian Football Confederation).
“However, I do not fully blame the FAM as the Transfer Matching System (TMF) opened before we qualified for the quarter-finals,” he told reporters in Kok Lanas yesterday.
The Red Warriors, who beat neighbours Terengganu in the previous round to set up their encounter with the Iraqi champions, will travel to Arbil on the 18th of September before hosting the return tie in Kota Bharu one week later.
