Malaysian youngster Nazmi scores his first goal on European soil in friendly

Nazmi Faiz signed professional terms with SC Beira-Mar last Thursday and followed it up with a goal in a friendly win two days later

Nazmi Faiz Mansor marked the signing of his contract with Portuguese club SC Beira-Mar, with a goal in an under-19 friendly on Saturday.

The nippy midfielder who turned 18 last Thursday, finally put pen to paper on a three-year deal after a long wait. Previously, he had only signed a pre-contract agreement with Beira-Mar as FIFA’s rules prevented players below the age of 18 from signing professional contracts.

Nazmi’s coach, Luis Antonio, told the club’s official website that the youth team’s purpose is to make sure young players are ready for first team action when required.

"Our new signings (including Nazmi) will gain from this exposure as my aim is to help them eventually play for the first team."

Nazmi, who will train with the first team, is available to both Beira-Mar’s senior and youth team for selection.

In the friendly match, played against a team called Lourosa, Nazmi’s goal helped Beira-Mar’s youth team record a convincing 3-0 win.
