Malaysian Under-23 team set to take on Indonesian counterparts in September's one-off invitational trophy game
Ong Kim Swee’s Harimau Muda ‘A’ will play against the Indonesian Under-23 team in the SCTV Cup in Jakarta next month.
The match will be a one-off tie and is scheduled to be played at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on September 9. The SCTV Cup is an invitational trophy that will serve as a prelude to the senior Indonesian national team’s friendly match against DPR Korea one day after.
Kim Swee is expecting a much tougher contest this time around than the one they experienced last month when his team of young, veteran and foreign players ran out 6-0 winners at the same venue.
“One thing for sure, I think that Indonesia will be more competitive this time round,” he told aseanfootball.org.
“They must have been hurt after the big loss the last time we played and they would want to avoid a repeat in front of their home fans.”
The Malacca born coach is looking forward to the game nonetheless.
“It will be a good opportunity to play another competitive international game and it is always good for the players to pick up more experience.”
