Bojan Hodak believes his Kelantan side is capable of completing a unique treble by winning the Malaysia Cup.
Kelantan have already won the Malaysian FA Cup in May and the Malaysian Super League (MSL), and could complete the treble, something never achieved by ‘The Red Warriors’ before, if they bag the Malaysia Cup in October.
However, after being drawn in the proverbial “Group of Death” of the competition, it won’t be a walk in the park for last season’s quarter-finalists. Kelantan are in Group B with neigbours Terengganu, Kedah and ATM.
Nevertheless, the Croatian who is never afraid to speak his mind prefers to view his team’s tricky draw positively.
“We got a tough draw in the Malaysia Cup but we are the champions and I believe we can win the competition,” Hodak told The Star.
“We’ll have to play against the tougher and better teams sooner or later, so meeting them early in the group stage shouldn’t make any difference.
“I have always said that to be champions, you need to beat the best teams and we are ready to take on all comers.”
For Hodak, his immediate concern is the condition of Kelantan’s national players - Khairul Fahmi Che Mat, S. Subramaniam, Shakir Shaari and Norshahrul Idlan Talaha.
The quartet are away with the Malaysian national team on a European tour and will only return six days before the Malaysia Cup kicks-off.
