Malaysia's custodian, Khairul Fahmi believes the Malayan Tigers are favorites for this years Suzuki Cup but is aware that a lot of hard work is needed to retain the coveted trophy
Malaysia’s No. 1 goalkeeper, Khairul Fahmi, or Apek as he is affectionately know to his fans, believes that the Malayan Tigers are the team to beat in this year’s AFF Suzuki Cup but is aware that a lot of hard work is needed to ensure the much coveted cup stays in Kuala Lumpur.
“To retain the title will be even harder than to win it the first time. We have to work extra hard compared to the last time in order to maintain the standard of the team,” said Khairul Fahmi to AFF Suzuki Cup correspondent.
“Malaysia will be the team to beat in this coming competition,” he added.
“In my opinion, playing on the home soil motivates us even more. We are proud of our achievements,” he said when asked about Malaysia being a co-host for this year’s tournament.
Malayan Tigers have been drawn into the so called “Group of Death” alongside two main rivals, Singapore and Indonesia for the upcoming AFF Suzuki Cup. The group stage of the tournament is scheduled for November 24 and will run until Decmber 1.
