Former treble winners Kedah are in talks with an unnamed Croatian coach to take over the hot seat and steer the team through the Malaysia Cup
Kedah have decided to obtain the services of an unnamed Croatian to replace current head coach Wan Jamak Wan Hassan following their relegation to the Malaysian Premier League (MPL).
The new coach is expected to arrive in Alor Setar next month to discuss terms with club officials and according to current manager Datuk Khazali Din, has the experience of managing several top clubs in his native country.
If the deal goes through, Kedah want the Southeastern European tactician to take over and start coaching the team in time for their Malaysia Cup campaign at the end of next month. However, Khazali declined to name the coach.
"We will announce once both parties come to an agreement,” he said, also adding that a decision on Wan Jamak’s position would be made soon.
Kedah were relegated to the MPL after losing the play-off final to Pahang on penalties, only qualifying for the Malaysia Cup by finishing 12th in the Malaysian Super League (MSL).
