Kedah are hoping that the return of their striker Mohd Khyril Muhymeen Zambri, from a one game suspension will help them win their remaining two games of the season and avoid relegation.
The Canaries are now in the relegation play-off places and could miss out on an automatic stay in the Super League if they do not get a maximum of six points from their two games.
Assistant coach Radhi Mat Din, who has been put in charge of first team affairs while head coach Wan Jamak Wan Hassan is away on leave, told the media that Khyril’s presence in the defeat against Negeri Sembilan on Saturday was sorely missed and that it hampered Kedah’s chances of getting all three points.
Radhi was quoted in BERNAMA to have said that the absence of experienced players had affected Kedah’s rhythm and that he believes Khyril’s availability in the last two games would help determine if their stay in the Malaysian Super League can be prolonged to another season.
Kedah are already missing the services of Croatian import and chief striker Vedran Gerc, as well as midfielder Amar Rohidan and right-back V.Thirumurugan. All three of them remain doubtful to play any part in the upcoming games against Perak in Ipoh tomorrow, and against Felda United at the Darulaman Stadium in their final game of the season on Saturday.
Mathematically, Kedah can still escape the play-offs however they will need to ensure that they win both of their games and that their rivals fail to win their fixtures.
