Kelantan announce deal for a new 30,000 seater home ground

By Mohamad Hakimi Asyraf
Kelantan fans will be calling a new 30,000 seater stadium home soon. A memorandum was signed and agreed between the President of Kelantan FA, Tan Sri Annuar Musa, and Casamesra Sdn. Bhd. Managing Director, Azhar Mustapha, with the current Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium being deemed to be 'unfit' by many.
Casamesra have been given the right by the Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V, to build the new stadium in the royal-owned plot of land in Tunjong, Kelantan. The new stadium, will be built on a land area of 8 hectar with a value of around RM300 million.
"We have to build this stadium because we want Kelantan to be a complete footballing side with it's own home stadium," Tan Sri Annuar Musa told Utusan Melayu.
"So when our Tuanku (Sultan Muhammad V) offered the land in Tunjong, we accepted it happily. We have also signed a memorandum with Casamesra to ensure that KAFA will manage and monitor the stadium when it's complete.
"But for now, we need the state government to approve the construction as soon as possible. Hopefully, we can start the construction soon."
The initial construction plan from Casamesra projected the stadium to have a capacity of 40,000 seats. However, having discussed the management cost extensively, the capacity has been reduced to 30,000 instead.
