League leaders Barcelona beat Granada 4-0, second-placed Atletico Madrid thrashed Getafe 7-0 and Real Madrid (in third) trounced Almeria 5-0, while Real Sociedad edged out Celta Vigo in a seven-goal thriller - all of that on Saturday.
Sevilla then claimed bragging rights in the Seville derby on Sunday with a 4-0 win over Betis, while there were also great wins for Osasuna, Villarreal, Espanyol, Elche and Athletic Bilbao. Here, Goal looks at the standout performers from the latest action in Spain's top flight.
In goal, Manu Herrera was colossal as Elche upset Valencia in a Mediterranean derby clash, making a number of superb saves to deny the visitors.
In defence, Jordan Loties was immense for Osasuna at Valladolid as the Navarrans took all three points in Castilla Leon with a 1-0 win. Elsewhere, Filipe Luis had little to do at the back for Atletico but was hugely impressive going forward as Diego Simeone's side humbled Getafe. Elche's David Lomban was also excellent in his side's shock 2-1 win over Valencia.
In midfield, Raul Garcia shone with a double and a dynamic display for Atletico and he is joined in this week's selection by Koke, the creative fulcrum for Simeone's side at the Vicente Calderon on Saturday night. Cani was superb again for Villarreal as the Yellow Submarine triumphed 3-0 at Levante, while Xabi Alonso pulled the strings for Madrid in Los Blancos' 5-0 success in Almeria.
