The Spaniard believes that his new Barcelona team-mate's strike against Atletico Madrid will help him find his way and was pleased with the final result of Wednesday's encounter
The 21-year-old started Wednesday's first leg from the bench but took the injured Lionel Messi's place at half-time and immediately made an impact for his new team, scoring an equaliser in the 66th minute.
"Neymar's goal was pretty important. It will give him confidence," Xavi told reporters after his side's draw.
The midfielder then went on to admit that Atletico caused Barca plenty of trouble but hailed the importance of the away goal ahead of the return leg.
"Atletico are a strong rival and they defend really well," he continued. "We tried to do a good job both in the first and second half but it was not easy. Toward the end we found more space.
"We tried to be patient and we managed to score a goal that will help us in the return leg."
