The Barcelona captain is excited to see how the Brazilian will cope with the rigours of European football but insists he is uncertain over the future of David Villa
Carles Puyol has warned Neymar that he will need to adapt quickly to European football at Barcelona.
The 21-year-old was presented as the latest star of the Camp Nou side on Monday following a transfer totalling €57 million [£48m] was completed last week, but club captain Puyol has stressed that playing in Europe will be a different proposition for the former Santos forward.
"Let's see how he plays in Europe, because it is very different, but a pro adapts to any situation," the 35-year-old told reporters in New York.
The Brazilian's arrival casts further doubt over the future of David Villa at the Liga champions and, with Pedro and Alexis Sanchez expected to stay this summer, Puyol admits he is uncertain as to where the former Valencia striker will be next season.
"I do not know where he will go," he added.
Neymar will compete in the Confederations Cup with Brazil prior to linking up with his new club for pre-season preparations this summer.
