Arsenal 3-0 Man City
No throphies for years and then two in quick succession, Arsenal fans will be revelling in the memories of seeing their team lift another trophy. Neither side were able to field all of their best players but the Gunners looked the far better prepared side heading into the new Premier League season.
For many teams, the Community Shield still represents as another friendly match to prepare for the season and new combination and bedding in of newly signed players. That was exactly the case for Arsenal and Calum Chambers, proving that once again, Arsene Wenger may have just picked another gem out of his magic hat.
Played alongside Laurent Koscielny in the first half, Chambers complemented his more illustrious partner with good reading of the game and the two were never cut open by City's attack. Then in the second half, Chambers looked to have became the more senior member of the centre back partnership as Nacho Monreal slotted in. Apart from one time that Edin Dzeko skinned him from the sidelines, Chambers remained solid throughout.
With Thomas Vermaelen's departure and Per Mertesacker still weeks from full fitness, Arsenal will have to depend on Chambers for a few more games, at the least. On this showing, he's fast proving that he could be relied upon immediately.
