Joachim Loew's men dominated possession throughout the game, but Argentina looked dangerous on the break, with Messi and Lavezzi pulling the strings impressively. And more often than not, Schweinsteiger was required to intelligently drop back and assist his defenders; something that the Bayern Munich midfield general did impressively.
But beyond that, he was top notch with his ball control, and did not give away possession easily. His passes were generally incisive in nature, and was a massive part of Germany's probing attempts on the offensive.
Schweinsteiger's commitment was second to none, depicted by how he fought valiantly despite blood oozing out of his head due to a collision with Aguero. That was a clear mark of absolute Inner Strength, a quality that ultimately made him the most impressive player on the pitch.
Gotze may have scored the winner, but Schweinsteiger's role was monumental. Absolutely monumental.
