MSL Round Report: Terengganu, Sarawak and Sime Darby FC seal valuable wins

The Turtles, the Crocs and the Planters came away with massive victories, while two other matches ended in a draw

In arguably the most exciting match of the week, Kelantan took on Pahang at the Sultan Muhammad ke-IV Stadium. The Red Warriors took an unexpected lead in the2ndminute through captain Badhri Radzi but his goal was cancelled by Saiful Nizam’s equalizer. The Elephants did not stop there as they score another goal in 74th minute from Faizol Hussein. However. in the 79th minute, Khairul Izuan equlized for Kelantan to put the game to a 2-2 draw.

In another game, ATM battled Selangor at the Selayang Stadium in a classic match which ended in a 1-1 draw. The visitors took an early lead from their inspiring forward Paulo Rangel in the 3rd minute but ATM fought hard and managed to equalize from Juan Arostegui just before half time. Selangor is now in 7th position in the league with 10 points but with a game in hand.

JDT traveled to Kuala Terengganu to face Terengganu in game where a victory would have given them a chance to climb to the summit of the Malaysian Super League table. It was the home side who managed to score early from Vincent Bikana in 16th minute and the score remains 1-0 until the final minute of the game. The win puts Terengganu team on top of the MSL with a game in hand.

Defending champions LionsXII’s title defence took a dent when they lost to Sarawak at the Sarawak Stadium. The Crocs stunned the opposition with a goal from S. Chanturu in the 16th minute. The away side fought hard and eventually equalizes through Nazrul Nazari. Despite the LionsXII’s domination in second half, they could not stop the Crocs from scoring and this time Rashid Aya scored to secure a 3-1 home win.

Bottom table team Sime Darby FC finally got their win by defeating Perak 2-0. Ismail Zakaria's men dominated the match from the start and Fazrul Hazli Kadri scored two goals in the first half to secure the win against a 10-man Perak after Kyaw Zayar was sent off.
