Rumours were rife that Johor Darul Ta'zim's Argentine sensation Pablo Aimar has found it difficult to adjust to his new life in Malaysia, and also playing in the Malaysia Super League, prior to the all important tie against LionsXII.

However, those suggestions were quickly quashed by the faultless performance of an individual whom Maradona once claimed to be the only player he'd pay to watch. The legend was spot on as Malaysian viewers were, without any doubt, entertained by his sublime, subtle and technically proficient touches on the pitch.

Countryman Luciano Figueroa's first goal was from a trademark Aimar pass. The nippy playmaker was surrounded by three LionsXII defenders before he threaded a perfectly weighted pass into the path of compatriot Figueroa, who applied a finish with aplomb. Aimar's movement was so delicate that he managed to fool his seemingly brutish man-markers without any of them noticing the final pass. World class.

Aimar was not finished however. He took on the responsibility of a 25 yard free kick in the 42nd minute, and curled home a classy finish beyond the reach of a hapless Izwan Mahbud.

One goal, one assist by an "unhappy Aimar." Wonder how he'll play once he reaches full steam?
