Glory's veteran Scottish midfielder stole the show with a dominant display against the Southern Tigers

Darul Takzim 0-2 Perth Glory
All the buzz going into this friendly match was about the expected debut of Darul Takzim's sensational midfield coup; Pablo Aimar.
However, the debut did not materialise much to the disappointment of the fans at the fully packed Larkin Stadium. The limelight was unexpectedly stolen by the solid performance of Glory's 33 year old midfielder Steven McGarry.
The midfielder controlled the play from the middle of the park and was embroiled in a heated midfield battle with Johor Darul Takzim's seemingly rejuvenated Safiq Rahim throughout the match.
Southern Tigers' defence was breached in the 34th minute as custodian Al-Hafiz Hamzah tripped the onrushing winger Ryo Nagai in the penalty box. McGarry stepped up confidently to score a well taken spot kick.
The former St. Mirren stalwart was at the heart of each of his team's attacking foray with some effortless passing whilst forming a potent midfield partnership alongside skipper Jacob Burns to thwart the home side's continued surge for a goal.
The veteran midfielder stayed on for 80 minutes but there is no doubt that he is still a force to be reckoned with for Alistair Edwards' team.
