thumbnail Hello,

Goal picks out the star performers in the Malaysian top flight after another pulsating week of action

This past week in the Malaysian Super League (MSL), table-toppers LionsXII dropped points at home for the first time this season when they drew with Johor Darul Takzim (JDT). The Red Giants pulled off a last minute victory against ATM, dashing their title hopes while T-Team put four past Felda as they build momentum to survive in the MSL.

Here, Goal takes a look at the standout performers from the latest round of MSL action.

JDT’s Al-Hafiz retains his spot between the posts after a wonderful performance at the Jalan Besar Stadium denying the LionsXII their perfect home record. Without him, the Southern Tigers could have been easily down 3-1, if not more.

Safuwan Baharudin will lead the four-man defence after he kept Leonel Nunez relatively quiet and grabbed the equaliser to save his side the blushes. He'll be joined by Mahali Jasuli, Nik Shahrul and Syuhiran Zainal; the T-Team leftback stood out the most this week as he proved his worth with some superb overlapping runs and was rewarded with a well-deserved goal against struggling Felda United. The marauding Mahali was not at his best last weekend but he still managed to carve an opening for Amri's first goal against ATM.

Selangor's Gurusamy will slot into the heart of midfield after he single-handledly inspired the win against title-chasing ATM with a pinpoint freekick in the dying minutes of the game. To his left will be George Boateng who was key in T-Team's first win of the season. LionsXII's Shahril Ishak will play on the wings as he showed tenacity in pulling strings for his side in the draw versus JDT, only to be denied by Al-Hafiz. Faiz Subri will play at the opposite end to the LionsXII skipper after he did well in the 4-0 victory in the East-Coast derby - assisting Dickson once and finding the net himself later in the game.

Upfront we’ll have the Titans' Damir Ibric and Kelantan's Nor Farhan. The Bosnian was highly influential in helping his team grab their first three points of the season. Ever so dangerous, he unselfishly laid on George Boateng’s goal before netting the fourth of the game with a neat finish. The Red Warriors' forward, Nor Farhan, demonstrated his class with a wonderful individual goal and also contributed an assist for Faiz Subri’s strike.
