The arrival of a new head coach in the form of Irfan Bakti was deemed to be fitting enough to lead Selangor into a glorious season of football in 2012. However, they were knocked out of the FA Cup in the second round, finished third in the Malaysian Super League, knocked out in the semi finals of the Malaysia Cup, as they capped yet another year without silverware.

Norazlan Razali, Mohd Fairul Azwan, Sharbinee Allawee Ramli

Ramez Dayoub, Nasriq Baharom, Asraruddin Putra Omar, Bunyamin Umar, Adib Aizuddin Latif, Mahali Jasuli, Fairuz Abdul Aziz

K Gurusamy, Fitri Shazwan Raduwan, Solihin Kanasian, S Veenod,
S Kunanlan, Shukur Jusoh, V Kavichelvan, Raimi Md Nor

Amri Yahyah, Wan Hoesne Wan Hussain, Francis Forkey Doe, Afiq Azmi, Ramzul Zahini Adenan

For a team of Selangor's calibre, going without silverware for two years is certainly a long period of time. The Red Giants are usually always at the top, battling for top honours.

Inspired by that, the Selangor FA promised to ring the changes for 2013 and has worked hard to draft in new faces within a short span of time as they seek to go gung ho on all fronts next year.

Sharbinee Allawee heads the list of 11 players that were brought in by the Selangor management and the list also includes the likes of Francis Forkey Doe from Terengganu as well as Mahali Jasuli from Harimau Muda A.

Besides that, Negeri Sembilan’s pacy flanker S. Kunanlan has also joined the Red Giants while towering striker Afiq Azmi has opted to join Selangor despite impressing during his Malaysia Cup loan stint with Kelantan this year.

The biggest arrival is none other than Mahali Jasuli, who has consistenly been in the national team frame for quite some time now. Better still, the right back was arguably Malaysia's best performer during the recent AFF Suzuki Cup.

Despite Bosko Balaban's prolificacy in front of goal, he was not retained for 2013 due to his inconsistency. But the signing of Forkey Doe should be a remedy to this problem, as the Liberia forward finished last season as the top scorer of the Super League with 15 goals, while also creating many other chances.

Having promised to fire on all cylinders, the Selangor FA will once again be under pressure to deliver. Irfan Bakti might have been a crowd favourite with Terengganu FA but a repeat of their inconsisten showings could see the tide turn against him as far as the Selangor fans are concerned. But on an overall note, the Red Giants have a pretty solid squad to challenge for top honours, including the AFC Cup.
