Mohd Raphi bin Azizan is probably still recovering from the news that may change the course of his life. After being chosen as one of the five finalists for Nike ‘The Chance’ Malaysia, Raphi has now earned a call-up from Harimau Muda coach Ong Kim Swee for a trialling stint with the national squad for their tour in Slovakia and China.
The euphoric news was just too good to be passed up and Mohd Raphi has now decided to take the chance of a lifetime. He will leave Nike’s ‘The Chance’ programme to link up with the Harimau Muda.
The youngster was one of the talented footballers noticed by coach Ong Kim Swee during the programme’s trialling sessions.
Raphi was still in shock by the possibility of donning the national colors.
“I’m still in shock. When I got the call from Coach Ong inviting me to join the Harimau Muda squad in Slovakia and China, I simply couldn’t believe it. I can’t thank Nike and coach Ong enough for this dream opportunity”, Mohd Raphi said.
Joan Yeoh, Country Marketing Manager of Nike Malaysia added, “Although we are sad that Mohd Raphi has had to leave ‘The Chance’ programme, we are also extremely proud of what he has achieved and we respect his decision. It truly a chance of a lifetime for him and we wish him all the best”.
“When we were informed by Coach Ong that he wanted Mohd Raphi to join his squad for its training tour, we were simply ecstatic. This speaks volumes on ‘The Chance’ programme.
Rahmat Che Mat has been called up to replace Mohd Raphi at ‘The Chance’ regional finals in Jakarta.
