MSL Big Bet Preview: Balaban to shine; Kelantan plotting revenge against Negeri Sembilan

Selangor's Bosko Balaban will be the man to watch against Kedah whereas Kelantan will want to exact revenge on Negeri Sembilan as they plot a new chapter without Peter Butler

Kedah FA
Selangor FA

Kedah are currently on a renaissance of sorts with Safi Abdulffatah, Hamidan Mohammad and Khyril Muhymeen being the pinnacle of their rise. Wan Jamak Wan Hassan will be back in the dugout after his 7 game suspension and will want to start the campaign on the right foot. However, Selangor have looked impressive in their last 2 games as the signing of Bosko Balaban has inspired the team to new highs. With Balaban on form, expect Selangor to beat the home side.

T Team FC
Sarawak FA

T Team have been one of the surprise packages of the season as their blistering start to the season was a testament to their abilities. However, in the last 3 games, they have gone through inconsisten form after the release of Zambian striker, Zachariah Simukonda. Zairo Anuar Zalani will be the key player for this tie as he will look to add to his 8-goal tally. Sarawak in the mean time have yet to assert themselves in the league. Vedran Muratovic and Guy Bwelle have looked impressive and Robert Alberts will be relying on them to spring a surprise on T Team. However, T Team will have the upper hand as they have the home support and also stronger first eleven.

Selangor PKNS
  Perak FA

PDRM could have sprung a suprise against Perak in their last friendly, but expect Perak to get back to business when the league resumes. Traveling to Petaling Jaya, Norizan Bakar will be relying on his stout defense and hardworking midfield to beat the club side. PKNS, have yet to adapt to the rigours of the Super League and are currently in the relegation zone. Abdul Rahman Ibrahim's side will be relying on home support but with Michael Kubala on song, expect Perak to trounce PKNS.

Kuala Lumpur FA
Terengganu FA

Even with the presence of Zakaria Charrara and Emmanuel Okine, Kuala Lumpur look to be on the verge of relegation. With young players on board, Razip Ismail is struggling to niche out victories for the city side. Terengganu in the mean time have put themselves in contention for the Super League title. Francis Doe will be the key player in this tie as the Liberian will look to add to his 5-goal tally. Mat Zan Mat Aris' men are the favourites for this tie as they look strong to thrash the sorry 'City Boys'.

Sabah FA
Johor FC

Sabah, who were struggling last season look set to continue their struggles as the Borneo side have yet to assert themselves in the league. Michael Baird and Brendan Gan, who came with much promise have not to set the league alight and Justin Ganai's side are still searching for their rhythm in the league. Ganai will look to Sharudin Yaakop for inspiration but it wouldn't be enough to beat an Arturo Bernhardt inspired side. The Brazilian has scored 3 goals in 2 games and K.Devan will look to him to bang in the goals. Kota Kinabalu maybe Sabah's fortress but Johor FC looks set to win their war in Kota Kinabalu.

Kelantan FA
  Negeri Sembilan FA

Devoid of Peter Butler, the Red Warriors will need to regroup as they will be facing the Sultan Ahmad Shah Cup champions. Negeri Sembilan who beat Kelantan in the Charity Shield match at Bukit Jalil will want to beat the Super League champions again. Effa Owona who was the chief destroyer in their last match will want to continue his good form with Negeri Sembilan. However, the inclusion of Obinna Nwanereri has helped shore up Kelantan's defence and we can expect a duel between him and Owona. Kelantan will surely be plotting a revenge on the 'Deers' as they want to satisfy their glory-hungry fans.

Lions XII
Felda United FC

With Shahril Ishak on form, Lions XII will be relying on their skipper to beat Felda United. Jalan Besar has not been their best hunting groun but their fortunes might finally change. V.Sundramoorthy will take advantage of Felda's inconsistency in the league to notch a generous win. E.Elavarasan's side have looked far from their best and players like Yuon Kuong Yong and Ahmad Fakhri Shaarani have been a disappointment so far. Lions are currently in the form of their lives so expect them to beat the 'Settlers' with ease.
