A string of poor results since the inspiring AFF Cup and SEA Games success has Malaysian football in the spotlight againMalaysia were saved from an embarrassing defeat to an unfancied Philippines team by a last-gasp equaliser.
Apart from the SEA Games gold medal win last December, the Tigers have not won their last four International matches, and that includes a shocking 3-2 defeat to a lowly-ranked India in November 2011.
Since the AFF Cup success in December 2010, Malaysia have also failed to get past rivals Singapore in the World Cup second round qualifiers, and the Harimau Mudas ended their Olympic qualifiers on a miserable note losing 4-0 at home to Japan.
Columnist Rizal Hashim also opined that Malaysia will never catch up to regional powerhouses.
Are these signs of declining standards in Malaysian football? Or is there a need to be patient?
