One Tottenham fan was arrested at half-time during his side's 3-0 defeat to West Ham for allegedly using the Y-word.
Supporters had been warned by police ahead of the match that the use of the term, which is seen by some as an offensive way to refer to a Jewish person, would result in arrests.
However, the home fans defied the advisement by repeatedly chanting the word throughout the match.
The man was held by police at half-time on suspicion of committing a section five public order offence.
Despite an intensified police presence at White Hart Lane, no mass arrests were witnessed for the thousands participating in chants.
