Poll of the Day: Should Arsenal break their transfer record to sign Stevan Jovetic?

The Gunners are confident that a deal for under £20 million can be agreed with Fiorentina for the 23-year-old who has scored 12 times in 28 Serie A matches this term

Arsenal are making progress in their efforts to sign Fiorentina forward Steven Jovetic as Arsene Wenger's side are in advanced negotiations with the Serie A club.

Goal.com exclusively revealed on Tuesday that Arsenal have stepped up their interest in the Montenegro international after learning that the 23-year-old is ready to be sold this summer.

Jovetic, who has netted 12 times in 28 Serie A appearances this season, commands a fee of £25 million-£30m, although the Gunners are confident they are able to secure a deal for under £20m.

Arsenal are also looking to bolster their attacking ranks with a second marquee signing this summer, with both Dortmund ace Robert Lewandowski and Manchester City's Edin Dzeko on Wenger's shortlist.

What do you think? Is Steven Jovetic the right man to lead Arsenal's attack next season? Is he even worth such a high transfer fee?
