Are Arsenal fans right to boo Robin van Persie?

The Dutchman faces a hostile reception from his former fans as he returns to the Emirates Stadium for the first time since leaving for Manchester United last summer
He left Arsenal in search of trophies and on Sunday, Robin van Persie will return to the Emirates Stadium with Manchester United as a Premier League winner.

Arsene Wenger sold the 29-year-old to Sir Alex Ferguson's side in a £24 million deal last summer and the striker faces a hostile reception when he faces his former supporters.

Wenger, who has confirmed Van Persie and the United team will be given a guard of honour to reflect their title win, insists the Dutchman will be held in high regard by the Arsenal players.

"We will respect the players that have played for us a long time as we always have done and treat them well before and after the game," Wenger said.

"As a champion or not as a champion it is exactly the same. What I want is for us to have a good game and to beat them, it doesn't matter what kind of status they come with."
