Chico Flores has learnt a lot at Swansea, insists Laudrup

The Swans boss believes the Spanish defender will only improve on his recent good form and has praised his ability to adapt quickly to the English game, saying he has "calmed down"

Swansea boss Michael Laudrup has heaped praise on his centre-half Chico Flores insisting that his form will only improve.

Though Michu has stolen many of the headlines in an impressive maiden Premier League campaign, the Danish manager insists Chico Flores deserves attention for his contribution to the Swans' defensive resilience.

Laudrup has revealed that the player has adapted quickly to the English game after the 25-year-old was sent off at the Liberty Stadium earlier on in the season against Wednesday's opponents Sunderland.

"Chico has calmed down," said the 48-year-old. "He is tough, he wants to win the ball and he has adapted. He learnt a lot from that sending off.

"The players scoring goals get all the headlines, but over the past couple of months we have improved in our defending."

Laudrup has also denied that he is set to sign any players before Thursday's deadline after being defeated in the FA Cup at the hand's of Arsenal.

He added: "Some teams have a different situation, but we will only play one game a week until the end of the season."
