thumbnail Hello,

The 28-year-old is delighted that the young forward will be able to stay at the Hawthorns for the rest of the season after impressing in recent weeks for the Baggies

West Brom captain Chris Brunt has praised the goalscoring form of on-loan striker Romelu Lukaku before warning that he can only get better.

Steve Clarke's side have been one of the biggest surprise packages of the campaign so far, currently sitting in seventh place in the league table just five points adrift of Chelsea in fourth.

A major part of that success in recent weeks has been Lukaku's destructive and bustling presence up front and with the Blues' right to recall the 19-year-old from his loan expiring, Brunt is delighted that the team will continue to benefit from his extended stay.

"Romelu has been confirmed as staying here for the season which is great news. He's come into his own during the last month," Brunt told reporters.

"The gaffer has been chopping and changing him and Shane [Long], and Rom has stepped up and grabbed a few goals for us.

"He's been consistently hitting the net in the last few weeks, even when we've not played that well, and the more he plays, the better and better he'll get.

"People forget Rom is only a young lad, he's still learning the game but he's a real handful.

"He gets into good areas and hopefully he'll put more and more chances away as he gets more football."

Elsewhere, after returning to the Hawthorns following a loan spell away with Leeds in the Championship, winger Jerome Thomas is keen to impress Clarke, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.

He said: "Maybe now this is my chance to show the gaffer and management what I can do.

"I'm happy here, I've been playing here for a few years and have no plans to move on. Hopefully I can get something resolved."
