Maloney featured for the full 90 minutes as the Latics earned a 3-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday which moved them out of the relegation zone.
And Martinez has praised the Scotland international's contribution to the victory at Villa Park.
He told reporters: "Shaun Maloney is one of the most gifted players you can see in this league. He has a good eye for a pass but other than that he has moved to a different level.
