Fulham boss Jol bemoans lack of 'spark' from Richardson

The Dutchman relegated the former England international to the bench for the Boxing Day clash with Southampton and argues that the 28-year-old must prove his worth
Fulham manager Martin Jol has told Kieran Richardson to up his game if he wants to return to the Cottagers' first team.

The former Manchester United attacker was dropped for the Boxing Day draw with Southampton, after featuring in the recent 4-0 loss to Liverpool at Anfield.

And Jol has revealed that he expects more from the 28-year-old, who moved to the club for £2 million over the summer.

“Richardson isn’t producing what I want him to produce. He’s lacking spark, fitness,” Jol told reporters.

“I want him to do well and be better than what I’ve got. He knows and he wants to do better.”
