Sir Alex Ferguson is a furious man, says Manchester United defender Buttner

The 23-year-old summer signing expresses his shock at the level of anger the Old Trafford boss shows towards his players but says that the squad respect him because of it
Manchester United left-back Alexander Buttner has revealed that he has never seen anybody get as "utterly furious" as Sir Alex Ferguson does - but says that the players all respect the manager for it.

The 70-year-old Scot is famed for his "hairdryer" treatments in the dressing room and the Dutch summer signing suggests that nobody is immune from it, regardless of their place in the squad or price tag.

And, while the Old Trafford boss dishes out his fury to the whole team, the 23-year-old defender claims that the United squad react in a positive way to the criticism.

"I've never met anyone who gets as utterly furious as the manager. Nothing like that has ever been seen in Holland," he told reporters.

"The bizarre thing is that, no matter who he has a go at, they will have respect for him. Ferguson makes no distinction. It doesn't matter if it's Wayne Rooney, Paul Scholes or Nani."

Despite being top of the Premier League and finishing top of their Champions League group, United's defence have been particularly porous this season and the former Vitesse man says that Sir Alex is angriest when mistakes are made due to a lack of concentration.

"If there's something he does not like he will let fly at you," Buttner continued.

"Above all, if you make a mistake near the end of a game or before half-time because you've lost concentration. That's something he absolutely hates."

Buttner has struggled for game time this season for the Red Devils, featuring in just one Premier League match, but has played two Capital One Cup ties and made three Champions League appearances.
